Proof of Delivery (POD)
A signed or electronically captured record confirming that a consignment was delivered to the recipient, with date, time, and condition noted.

The POD closes the transport contract and is the primary evidence in any dispute about whether, when, and in what condition goods arrived. Its value depends on what is recorded: an unqualified signature makes a later damage claim considerably harder, whereas a clausing noting damaged packaging, short count, or a broken seal preserves the recipient's position. Recipients should inspect before signing and note any discrepancy on the POD itself, because most carrier contracts impose short notification windows for visible damage.
