Platform changes
Looking for a SeaRates alternative?
SeaRates.com now redirects to DP World's corporate site. What SeaRates offered, what has changed, and what CargoLinked can and cannot do for shippers and forwarders who used it.
What SeaRates offered
- A freight marketplace branded "SeaRates by DP World", with an online freight calculator for 190+ countries (its own figure, August 2026), instant rates and online booking.
- A large suite of free tools: container and vessel tracking, ship schedules, a load calculator, distance and time, a freight index, a CO2 calculator, HS codes, a glossary, and port and shipping-line directories.
- Separate surfaces for importers and exporters and for carriers and forwarders, including an "Active shipping leads" feed and a public pricing page tied to DF Alliance membership.
What has changed
Observed on 18 October 2026
searates.com, www.searates.com and every SeaRates page we requested, including the pricing page, returned a permanent redirect (HTTP 301) to www.dpworld.com. The page that loads there is DP World's corporate site: no calculator, no leads feed and no pricing navigation. DP World's forwarder network, DF Alliance (df-alliance.com), was still live the same day and still listed shipping leads among its member benefits. We do not know whether SeaRates will return under another name.
What CargoLinked offers instead
A free directory you can be found in today
CargoLinked lists logistics companies in 194 countries. Adding a company that is not listed is self-serve: the listing publishes as soon as it has its basic details, with no document review and no waiting period. Claiming a listing that already exists uses a code sent to an address at the company's own web domain.
Freight requests from shippers, answered with structured quotes
Shippers post a freight request for free. Companies with a live listing whose coverage includes the origin or destination country can reply with a quote in US dollars, a transit time, a route, a validity date and notes. The shipper compares the quotes side by side and accepts one; the transport contract is between the shipper and the provider, and CargoLinked is not the carrier.
Free freight calculators
Twenty-two free tools: CBM, chargeable weight, container fit, pallet loading, VGM, demurrage and detention, margin, CO2 and a currency converter on daily ECB rates, among others. No account needed.
A free plan, and paid plans priced in the open
A Listed plan is free and keeps a company visible in the directory. Paid plans add a monthly allowance of quote responses and the Connected badge; the prices and what each plan includes are on the pricing page, with no quote required.
An optional, scoped Verified badge
A company can upload registration documents for a person to review and earn a Verified badge that says exactly which facts were checked and when. It is free, it is optional, and a listing without it is not treated as suspect; most listings do not have one.
What CargoLinked does not do
Read this before you switch; it is as important as the list above.
- CargoLinked does not quote instant rates, does not take bookings and does not handle payment. Quotes are written by the provider and the shipment is contracted directly with them.
- There is no live rate index, no vessel or container tracking and no schedule search on CargoLinked. The calculators cover the arithmetic of a shipment, not carrier rates.
- CargoLinked is not a forwarder network: there is no membership agreement between members, no payment protection fund and no conference. Forwarders can find each other in the directory, but the relationship is theirs to arrange.
Common questions
- Is SeaRates shut down?
- We cannot say what DP World has decided. What we observed on 18 October 2026 is that every searates.com address we tried redirects permanently to dpworld.com, and the destination has none of the SeaRates tools. If the redirect is reversed later we will update this page.
- Can I get instant freight rates on CargoLinked?
- No. CargoLinked works by request: you post the shipment once, for free, and providers that cover your route send written quotes you compare. That takes longer than an instant rate and gives you a named company and its terms for each price.
- I used SeaRates to find forwarders. Where do I look now?
- The CargoLinked directory is free to search by country, city, service and trade lane, and each listing shows the company's services, coverage, contact details where the company has made them public, and the Verified badge where it holds one.
- My company was listed on SeaRates or DF Alliance. How do I get listed here?
- Create a free account and add your company. The listing goes live when it has a name, head office country and city, a description, at least one service and at least one country you serve. If your company is already in the directory, claim it with a code sent to your company email domain.
