Accessorial Charges

Illustration for Accessorial Charges, Pricing & Surcharges

Additional charges for services beyond standard pickup, line-haul, and delivery, such as waiting time, inside delivery, or tail-lift use.

In depth

Accessorials cover anything outside the standard movement: waiting time at a slow loading bay, residential or inside delivery, tail-lift or crane requirements, redelivery after a failed attempt, storage, or an appointment booking. They are a common source of invoice disputes because they are triggered by site conditions the shipper may not have disclosed and the carrier did not anticipate. Describing the collection and delivery locations accurately at quotation — access, equipment available, opening hours — prevents most of them.
