The UK logistics sector generates around GBP 170 billion for the economy and employs 2.7 million people, more than 8% of the national workforce, according to Logistics UK. The Port of Felixstowe alone handles roughly 4 million TEUs a year, over 40% of the country's containerised trade, while Heathrow moved a record 1.58 million tonnes of air cargo in 2024. The sector has also consolidated sharply: GXO absorbed Wincanton, DSV bought DB Schenker, and DHL eCommerce UK merged into Evri, all within about eighteen months. The best logistics companies in the UK now span postal and parcel networks, contract logistics giants, FMCG haulage groups and independent forwarders. This 2026 guide profiles ten providers with the strongest footprint in the country, listed in no particular order, drawn from public reporting, company accounts and trade coverage.
How we chose this list
This is an editorial guide, compiled from public sources such as annual reports, company accounts, regulatory filings and trade media, rather than from paid placements or our own directory data. We weighed four things:
- Scale in the UK: revenue, sites, fleet and employees based in the country.
- Breadth of services: parcels, contract logistics, haulage, forwarding and pallet networks.
- Track record: years operating in the UK and publicly verifiable results.
- Network: national coverage plus international connections after Brexit-era customs changes.
Figures are the most recent publicly reported at the time of writing, and ownership reflects the recent wave of acquisitions. The companies appear in no particular order. A provider further down the page may well be the better fit for your specific lane or freight type.

Royal Mail
Royal Mail remains the only operator obliged to deliver to every UK address. Parent International Distribution Services reported group revenue of GBP 13.1 billion for the year ended March 2025, up 4.8%, with Royal Mail itself returning to a small adjusted operating profit. It employs around 130,000 people, including roughly 80,000 posties. The group was taken private by Daniel Kretinsky's EP Group in a GBP 3.6 billion deal and left the London Stock Exchange in June 2025.
Best for: universal-service letters and low-cost domestic parcels to every UK address.
DHL Group
DHL reported global revenue of EUR 84.2 billion in 2024. In the UK its supply chain arm alone employs almost 37,000 people and describes itself as the country's largest logistics provider, with its UK head office in Milton Keynes. Its e-commerce parcel business merged into Evri in October 2025, with DHL taking a minority stake in the combined group, while DHL Express, Supply Chain and Global Forwarding continue as separate UK operations.
Best for: international express and cross-border shipping, plus large-scale UK contract logistics.
GXO Logistics
The UK is GXO's single largest market, worth about USD 5.25 billion, roughly 45% of its USD 11.7 billion global revenue. It completed the GBP 762 million acquisition of Wincanton in April 2024, cleared by the CMA in June 2025 subject to divesting some grocery warehousing contracts. Wincanton brought more than 20,000 employees and over 16 million sq ft of warehousing across 160-plus UK and Ireland sites.
Best for: outsourced warehousing, e-commerce fulfilment and automation-heavy contract logistics.
Culina Group
Culina is the UK's dominant food and drink logistics group, reporting turnover in excess of GBP 2.2 billion with more than 5,500 trucks, 100-plus sites across the UK and Ireland and over 22,000 people at peak. It has owned Eddie Stobart since 2021; that business alone runs more than 2,700 vehicles and 3,500 trailers across 43 depots, and reported revenue of GBP 556.8 million in 2024.
Best for: chilled and ambient food and drink logistics, from shared-user warehousing to full FMCG distribution.
DPD UK
DPD UK, part of Geopost and ultimately France's La Poste, reported turnover of GBP 1.48 billion for the year to December 2024 from its Smethwick head office in the West Midlands. Parent Geopost delivered 2.1 billion parcels worldwide in 2024 on revenue of EUR 15.8 billion. DPD's reputation in the UK rests on precise delivery windows and tracking that consumers actually trust.
Best for: premium next-day and timed B2C parcel delivery with strong tracking.
Evri
Leeds-based Evri delivered a record 807 million parcels in its year to February 2025 on revenue of GBP 1.85 billion, up 12%. Its merger with DHL eCommerce UK completed on 1 October 2025 after unconditional CMA approval, creating a group that now delivers over a billion parcels and around a billion letters a year with more than 30,000 couriers and drivers. It is owned by Apollo Global Management, with DHL holding a minority stake.
Best for: low-cost, high-volume e-commerce parcel delivery and out-of-home drop-off.
Kuehne+Nagel
Kuehne+Nagel has operated in the UK since 1968 and now has over 14,000 colleagues at more than 100 locations nationwide, backed by a global network of nearly 1,300 sites in close to 100 countries. As one of the world's leading sea and air forwarders it is a default choice for UK importers and exporters needing capacity on major trade lanes plus customs expertise.
Best for: global sea and air freight forwarding with deep UK port and airport coverage.
DSV
DSV completed its acquisition of DB Schenker on 30 April 2025 for about EUR 14.3 billion, roughly doubling the company and creating the world's largest freight forwarder with revenue near EUR 41.6 billion and close to 160,000 employees. Its UK network runs from a Purfleet headquarters through offices in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Immingham, Harwich and beyond, with particular strength in UK-Europe road freight.
Best for: multimodal international forwarding, especially UK to Europe road freight at scale.
Davies Turner
Founded in 1870, Davies Turner is the largest privately owned, independently run freight forwarder in the UK, with turnover reaching GBP 264 million for the year to March 2025. It operates 19 UK and Ireland locations including purpose-built warehouses at Dartford, Heathrow, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow, covering road, sea and air freight.

EV Cargo
EV Cargo grew 2024 revenue 8% to GBP 848.7 million, with around 2,500 supply chain professionals across more than 90 locations in 21 countries. In March 2026 it sold its UK Solutions and Distribution business to William Stobart's WS Holdco, pivoting to pure-play global forwarding under the Allport brand plus the Palletforce express pallet network hubbed at Burton upon Trent.
Best for: Asia to Europe forwarding combined with UK express pallet distribution.
How to choose between them
The right provider depends less on overall size than on fit with your freight and lane:
- Parcels and e-commerce: Royal Mail for universal reach, DPD for premium next-day, Evri for volume economics.
- Warehousing and fulfilment: GXO and DHL Supply Chain dominate large contracts; Culina owns food and drink.
- International freight: Kuehne+Nagel, DSV and Davies Turner all quote door-to-door including customs.
- Palletised UK distribution: EV Cargo's Palletforce network and Culina's haulage fleet.
Whoever you shortlist, get more than one quote, because rates for the same lane can vary widely, and confirm licences, insurance coverage and references for your specific freight type. Our guide to the best websites to find a freight forwarder covers how to run that comparison.
Compare UK logistics providers in one place
The ten companies above are the biggest names, but they are not always the best-priced option for a specific shipment, and independent forwarders often handle SME import and export work more attentively than the majors. CargoLinked's directory lists more than 900 logistics companies and freight forwarders based in the United Kingdom, which you can browse by service and by city, including London and Felixstowe. If you have cargo to move, you can also post your shipment for free and collect quotes from interested forwarders instead of contacting providers one by one.
