Freightnet does two jobs: it is a large freight forwarder directory, and it is a quote-request board that distributes leads to paying members. Most people looking for an alternative only use one of those halves, and the right substitute is different for each.

If you are a forwarder paying for listings
Freightnet's Premium is $99/year — full contact details, logo, profile, website link, and the right to respond to quote and agent requests. Its free Standard tier shows limited contact details, cannot respond to quotes, and states approval takes up to 30 days. So the real question is what else buys inbound enquiries.

The honest recommendation
$99/year is cheap enough that "alternative" is usually the wrong frame — run Freightnet alongside something rather than instead of it, and measure. Add a free CargoLinked listing (no cost, five free quotes) and, if your business depends on overseas agents, a network like JCtrans or WCAworld that Freightnet does not replace. After a quarter, count won business per dollar. That number beats every comparison table, including this one.
If you are a shipper getting quotes
Freightnet's request flow is free and manual — you submit once, Premium members compete. Alternatives split by how you want the price produced:
- Another request board — CargoLinked. Same model, structured quote fields for side-by-side comparison, and forwarders matched to your lane. Free.
- Instant rates — Freightos, SeaRates or All Forward if your cargo is standard and your lane is major. Seconds instead of a day, at the cost of coverage on anything unusual.
- A digital forwarder if you would rather have one counterparty than choose between several.
- Direct to forwarders from any directory. Slower, and there is nothing wrong with it.
What none of them do
No platform in this list pre-vets its listings in a way you should rely on. Freightnet's homepage refers to alerting "vetted providers" without describing the vetting; CargoLinked does not pre-vet at all — details go live unreviewed, and only listings holding our optional Verified badge have had documents checked.
