CargoLinked vs SeaRates: A Tool Suite or a Quote Marketplace?

Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns SeaRates?+

SeaRates brands itself "SeaRates by DP World". DF Alliance, a freight forwarder network often evaluated alongside it, states on its own site that it was founded in 2020 by DP World and advertises member rates on SeaRates.com — so the two are part of the same commercial group rather than independent alternatives.

Does CargoLinked offer container tracking like SeaRates?+

No. SeaRates provides container, vessel and multimodal tracking; CargoLinked does not offer tracking at all. Tracking data lives with the carrier and your forwarder — for ocean shipments, track the bill of lading with the ocean carrier, and ask your forwarder for house-level status.

Is SeaRates cheaper than getting quotes from forwarders?+

Not necessarily. An instant calculator rate reflects rates loaded for that lane, which is competitive where volume justifies maintaining them and less reliable on thin lanes or unusual cargo. Comparing a calculated rate against two or three real quotes for the same shipment is the only way to know, and the gap between them is itself informative.
